Portugal winger Cristiano Ronaldo has denied asking Argentinian referee Horacio Elizondo to take action against Wayne Rooney during the World Cup quarter-final. Ronaldo, who winked at the Portugal bench following the dismissal.

" Iknow that people will say that the referee sent off Rooney because I spoke to him," said Ronaldo. "I only said to the referee that it was a foul, only that.

This is after the ref had blown his whistle and was allready pointing in the direction of the England half indicating free kick to Portugal. What does he think were stupid? More

Devastation



Jamie Carragher has spoken of a scene of devastation and disappointment in the dressing room after England were knocked out of the World Cup by Portugal on penalties.
For reasons only Sven-Goran Eriksson will ever be able to explain, Carragher was thrown on as a substitute with just seconds of extra-time remaining to ensure the Liverpool defender could be one of the five penalty takers. He scored with his first attempt, but it was ordered to be re-taken and Ricardo deflected his second effort on to the woodwork.

Thanks Horacio Elizondo


Argentine referee Horacio Elizondo, who was urged on by Portugal players Sent Rooney off for nothing and sent England home. Nothing new to this world cup. Most of the games have been decided on incorrect Refereeing Decisions. The teams have gone home When we all know it should be the Refs sent home. Im not bitter im Angry and very very proud of our boys.
